Due to the recession, the gambling industry is facing difficult times. Employees have been made redundant, building projects have been placed on standby and betting parlors are closing down.

Until recently, the minimum bet on a blackjack table at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, had been $10. Now, with the goal of keeping customers gambling, one of Western New York’s greatest casinos, Seneca Gaming, has introduced “Best Bets”, a campaign offering 97% payback on slot machines and a $5 minimum bet on black jack tables 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Jillian Fiorella, a spokeswoman for the corporation quotes: “...We at Seneca Gaming Corporation, similar to other companies in Western New York, have noticed a change in consumer discretionary spending”. However not all gamblers have been affected by the recession, obviously referring to those who still posses money.
