Blackjack Introduction
The good thing of blackjack is that there is not only luck involved but also some skills; when you become a better player your chances to win become bigger as well. The object of the game is to reach closer to the 21 points than the dealer. The Ace counts for 11 or 1, which is up to you. The other cards count for the value of the card and the face cards count for 10.
The game starts when the Dealer announces 'Place your bets please'. Then you can make your bet until the dealer announces 'No more bets please'. The dealer moves his hand from right to left in the direction of the card shuffler, which means that you can't touch your chips anymore. Every player gets 2 cards face up, which is called the initials cards. The dealer takes one card visible for the players. The first player starts to make the choice between Fold (no more cards), Hit (a new card), split (when you have two the same value cards) or double down (take one more card and add the same amount of chips). The player can take as many cards as he wants, until he reaches the 21 points. When he goes over the 21 points he is busted and looses his bet.
When all the players finishes their hand it's the dealer turn (if there are still players inside the game). The dealer takes a card and continue until he reaches 17 points. He then has to fold his hand and the dealer will check if he has more than the players. If they have the same points than it's a stand-off and the bet stays for the player.
You have blackjack only when you have an Ace in combination with a ten card. If you have 21 points with 3 cards it's not a Blackjack. When you have blackjack the dealer will pay you 3-2. When the open card of the dealer is a 10 card then the player has to wait until the dealer finishes his hands. He can get an Ace and then you both have Blackjack and you will get your bet back. When the Dealer has an Ace he will ask the player for Even Money. If he accepts the even money he avoids the chances of a stand-off. The player will then get paid 1-1.
Pay-out options
In Blackjack you can have the following situations:
- When a player has more than 21 points the players loosses the game and the dealer will take the bet of the player
- When a player has 21 or less points and the dealer has more than 21, than the player gets his bet plus 1 time his bet.
- When a player has a better hand than the dealer he will get paid one time his bet
- When the dealer has a better hand than the dealer will take the chips of the player.
- When the dealer and the player have the same hand total (between 17 and 21) then it's called a stand-off and the player gets only his bet back.
- When a player has a blackjack he will get paid 3-2. When the Dealer also has a blackjack than it's a stand-off.
- When the dealer has blackjack all the players loose their hand (if they don't have blackjack).
